Michael De Simone Obituary, Death – Family Remembers Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather at 51

Michael Andrew De Simone, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, has died at the age of 51, leaving behind a family and community mourning the loss of a man whose life was marked by love, adventure, humor, and devotion to those closest to him.

Michael was born on July 23, 1975, in Hagerstown, Maryland, and died on Friday, August 21, 2026, in Olympia, Washington. In a fitting reflection of one of the simple pleasures he enjoyed, he died while eating pizza, just as he had entered the world with food at the center of the moment.

Throughout his life, Michael lived in several parts of the United States and abroad, including Florida, Texas, Arizona, South Korea, California, and Washington. His journey also took him around much of the world. Through work and personal travel, he visited every continent except Antarctica, accumulating experiences and memories that reflected his curiosity about the world.

While Michael enjoyed traveling and exploring different places, the people he loved remained at the heart of his life.

He is survived by his parents, Dennis De Simone and Ruth Weber; his brothers, Mark De Simone and Daniel De Simone; and his nephew, August De Simone. His family also includes his brother-in-law Daniel Shults and his family, sister-in-law Régine Labossière, stepmother Nida De Simone, stepbrother Michael Quan, and his daughter’s partner, Michael Kuerner. He also leaves behind Sandy, his beloved adopted dog, as well as many extended family members and close friends.

Among Michael’s greatest relationships was the one he shared with his wife, Daisy De Simone. The couple had been together for nearly 33 years after meeting as high school sweethearts. Their relationship continued through many chapters of life, from their younger years and military life to raising children, navigating parenthood, growing older together, and eventually becoming grandparents.

Their enduring relationship was a central part of Michael’s life, and the family remembers the couple as sweethearts throughout every stage of their journey together.

Michael was also deeply devoted to his two daughters, Johanna De Simone and Dani De Simone. His love for them was immense, and he cherished the many years and experiences they shared as a family.

He took particular joy in being a grandfather to his three grandsons, Leo, Crispan, and Trent. Time spent with his grandchildren brought him immense happiness and gave him countless memories that his family will continue to treasure.

Those who knew Michael will remember not only his love for his family but also his appreciation for life, his travels, his relationships, and the experiences he was fortunate enough to have.

In keeping with the spirit of his wishes, the family has asked that, instead of sending flowers, people honor Michael by showing love generously to the people who matter most in their lives. His message serves as a reminder to cherish family and friends and make the most of the time shared with them.

A viewing for Michael De Simone will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 28, at Sticklin-Brown Funeral Chapel, 1437 S. Gold St., Centralia. A funeral service will follow at noon.

A celebration of Michael’s life will then take place from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 1993 S. Market Blvd., Chehalis.

As family and friends gather to remember Michael, they will celebrate a life filled with meaningful relationships, remarkable travels, and, above all, an enduring love for the people and animals who meant the most to him.
