McKayla Yvonne Foust Obituary, Death – Watford City Woman Dies Tragically at 29 During Cancun Vacation
WATFORD CITY, North Dakota — The Watford City community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of McKayla Yvonne Foust, who passed away suddenly on August 20, 2026, following a tragic accident while vacationing in Cancun, Mexico. She was just 29 years old.
Born McKayla Yvonne Mourer on March 12, 1997, in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, she was widely known for her warm personality, vibrant laughter, and adventurous spirit. McKayla was a passionate lover of the outdoors, frequently spending her time camping, fishing, hiking, and capturing memories through photography.
She shared her life and final vacation with her husband, Derek Foust. In addition to her husband, McKayla leaves behind a deeply loving family, including her parents, Katherine and Rex Mourer, and her siblings, Cassidy and Camben Mourer. She was preceded in death by her older brother, Jesse Slade Mourer.
A memorial service honoring her life was held on Friday, September 4, 2026, at the Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home Chapel in Watford City, where community members gathered to pay their final respects.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Family Crisis Shelter in Williston, North Dakota, a cause that honors McKayla’s legacy of kindness and community care.
